Remembering what matters
I was just reading The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd, and ran across a wonderful quote. "The problem [with people] is they know what matters, but they don't choose it. .... The hardest thing on earth is choosing what matters." As someone who just struggled with a decision whether or not to paint my son's closet in rainbow colors --- which would make him happy but might look silly to others and require repainting sooner --- I thought, how true. Why not make a little boy's heart happy instead of worrying about what someone else might think and a can of paint?
I hope we can all try to remember what really matters and make our choices, hard though they may be, with it in mind.
I'm done waxing philosophic now and promise not to do the newsletter in rainbow colors unless it would make our members' hearts happy.
